Have you attempted positive change that just didn’t work at all?  Created positive change and it worked for a short time, but then people slipped back into old ways? Tried a solution that made sense, but it didn’t produce the financial benefits that you thought it would? Had a hard time getting your people to believe in your solutions or have faith that they will work? If you have ever felt any of the above, you’re not alone and Theory of Constraints (TOC) would have been your best friend.  TOC is a logic based approach to looking at business.  Whether a project is small or large, TOC offers a starting point to ensure that we do not waste time working on the wrong elements.  The deliverable is a set of “roadmaps” providing answers to three questions: What to change, to what to change, and how to cause the change. TOC is not a single method or tool, but a family of approaches.  There are elements of TOC that can be very “impromptu” in nature that are best suited for conflict resolution and day-to-day decision making.  This tool is an eye opener and clients commented that use of TOC provided them with a feeling of “finally, we are getting to the real solutions.”

Mr. Cable will be presenting at Cedar Valley APICS PDM on Tuesday, September 11, at Longbranch Hotel and Convention Center.
